The ASDEX Upgrade (AUG) programme, jointly run with the EUROfusion MST1 task force, continues to significantly enhance the physics base of ITER and DEMO. Here, the full tungsten wall is a key asset for extrapolating to future devices. The high overall heat ...

The correction busbar (CB) conductors for the ITER project are being produced in China. The second China CB conductor sample (CBCN2, Phase II of conductor testing) and the third CB conductor sample (CBCN3, Phase III testing) were made of the WST NbTi stran ...

DIII-D research is addressing critical challenges in preparation for ITER and the next generation of fusion devices through focusing on plasma physics fundamentals that underpin key fusion goals, understanding the interaction of disparate core and boundary ...

Atrial fibrillation is the most common clinical cardiac arrhythmia. It is often initiated by ectopic beats arising from the pulmonary veins and atrium, but the source and mechanism of these beats remains unclear. The melanin synthesis enzyme dopachrome tau ...

A discharge with electron temperature up to 14 keV has been achieved in EAST. Analysis of the electron cyclotron current drive (ECCD) efficiency at high electron temperature under EAST parameters is presented using C3PO/LUKE code. Simulation results show t ...

The conductor for the ITER Correction Coils (CC) is manufactured in China and is tested in the SULTAN facility. The third China CC conductor for the qualification SULTAN test sample (CCCN3) was prepared from a 200 m long CC conductor unit length (Phase II) ...

JOREK is a massively parallel fully implicit non-linear extended magneto-hydrodynamic (MHD) code for realistic tokamak X-point plasmas. It has become a widely used versatile simulation code for studying large-scale plasma instabilities and their control an ...

Identifying multitarget impurities on contact lenses is challenging because traditional methods such as polymerase chain reaction cannot be used on the unknown target. Other sampling methods often require expensive antibodies or dyes. Therefore, this resea ...

Using a data sample of 106 million psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII storage ring, we study for the first time the decays chi(cJ) -> phi(KSK +/-)-K-0 pi(-/+) and chi(cJ) -> phi K+K-pi(0) in the E1 radiative transiti ...

Progress in understanding lower hybrid current drive (LHCD) at high density has been made through experiments and modeling, which is encouraging given the need for an efficient off-axis current profile control technique in burning plasma. By reducing the w ...

EAST has been equipped with two high power lower hybrid current drive (LHCD) systems with operating frequencies of 2.45 GHz and 4.6 GHz. Comparative LHCD experiments with the two different frequencies were performed in the same conditions of plasma for the ...

We suggest a control based method to uncover the structure (i.e., the dynamics of each system, the coupling direction, and coupling functions) of coupled systems. We show that driving a coupled system to steady states can reveal the underlying controlled c ...

In parallel to the direct contribution to the procurement phase of ITER and Broader Approach, CEA has initiated research & development programmes, accompanied by experiments together with a significant modelling effort, aimed at ensuring robust operation, ...

The fourth China TF conductor sample (TFCN4) for Phase II, the left leg of the fifth China TF conductor sample (TFCN5) for Phase III, as well as the right leg of the TFCN5 conductor for Phase IV, were made of the WST strands, cabled by Baosheng, jacketed a ...

In the R&D process of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Poloidal Field (PF) coils, 16 m PF5 Cable-in-Conduit Conductor (CICC) was integrated at Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP). The manufacture proc ...

A dual-channel electrospray microchip has been developed for electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) where aqueous samples are mixed at the Taylor cone with an organic buffer. Due to the fast and effective mixing in the Taylor cone, the aqueous ...
