We simultaneously create stable solitons in up to three distinct mode families of a single crystalline MgF2 microresonator. The resulting Kerr combs are mutually coherent and have distinct repetition rates and are thus well suited for dual-comb application ...

We develop a dual-comb system based on a single crystalline microresonator by monochromatically pumping counter-propagating solitons in the same spatial mode with equal powers and unveil the role of soliton Cherenkov radiations interference in the process. ...

We discover a novel mechanism allowing for successive reduction of the number of dissipative Kerr solitons in optical microresonators. It is demonstrated that multiple and single soliton state can be deterministically accessed. ...

We demonstrate efficient generation of mid-infrared dispersive wave at 3.5 m in a Si3N4 waveguide pumped by a 2090nm femtosecond mode-locked fiber laser. The 8% maximum efficiency allows for a milliwatt-level average power mid-infrared pulse. ...

We demonstrate piezo-tunable hybrid integrated lasers offering linewidths below 100 Hz along with highly linear and fast frequency tuning. For a tuning range of 1 GHz, residual nonlinearities are below 0.07 %, allowing for 5 cm ranging precision in an FMCW ...

We report the study of the optical and mechanical properties of high-Q fused silica microtoroidal resonators at cryogenic temperatures (down to 1.6 K). A thermally induced optical multistability is observed and theoretically described, originating from the ...

Photonic integrated systems can be harnessed for fast and efficient optical telecommunication and metrology technologies. Here the authors develop a dual-soliton microcomb technique for massively parallel coherent laser ranging that requires only a single ...

We fabricate nanomechanical resonators with Q > 109 at room temperature and show efficient optical readout of their motion. With an improved interferometer, these devices can be cooled close to the ground state without a cavity. ...

We implement Euler bends to build compact high-Q Si3N4 racetrack microresonators, featuring a small footprint of only 0.21 mm(2) for 19.8 GHz FSR. We demonstrate that these multi-mode microresonators can be operated in the single-mode regime and generate a ...

We investigate coupled-resonator dispersion engineering capabilities for con-trolling the shape of the soliton microcomb in real time. ...

The generation of primary sub-comb-lines with high coherence using dual pumps in a SiN microresonator is investigated. A total capacity of 400 Gbit/s has been experimentally demonstrated in coherent communications based on the generated combs. ...

Electro-optical devices that use wafers of lithium tantalate on an insulator have properties similar or superior to those of state-of-the-art lithium niobate-on-insulator wafers. They can also be made in larger volumes, at lower cost and using existing man ...
