This paper describes an efficient algorithm to predict the RF gas breakdown power threshold in microwave devices with complex geometries. The two necessary calculations when investigating such a phenomenon have been performed: on the one hand, the computat ...

Multipactor and microwave corona breakdown are two high frequency discharges occurring within microwave components for space applications as well as within particle accelerators. The appearance of these phenomena results in the exponential growth of the el ...

This paper demonstrates how an already developed finite element code for solving electromagnetic problems can be manipulated and simply extended so as to investigate complicated corona breakdowns. A safe criterion based on the eigenvalue analysis is used i ...

In this communication, the coupling matrix synthesis of dissipative microwave filters is analyzed and compared to the synthesis of lossless filters. A modified definition of the vector matrix product allows using the same synthesis procedure in both cases. ...

This paper describes an algorithm to calculate a large number of roots of the cross-product of Bessel functions and of their first derivatives. The algorithm initially finds the roots of the zeroth order using an auxiliary function that exhibits the same r ...

Multipactor is a hazardous vacuum discharge produced by secondary electron emission within microwave devices of particle accelerators and telecommunication satellites. This work analyzes the dynamics of the multipactor discharge within a coaxial line for t ...

This paper shows the construction of an algorithm to calculate the roots of both, the cross-product of Bessel functions respectively of their first derivatives. The algorithm has shown globally convergent behavior for a large range of values of the argumen ...

This paper studies the evolution of the multipactor discharge inside a parallel-plate waveguide partially loaded by a dielectric slab. The effect of static charges on the dielectric surface as well as of induced charges on the metallic plates are included. ...

This paper presents a newly developed SMA-like connector for High Power Space applications that can withstand more than 1500 Watts in the P- and L-Band for a pulsed signal of 2% duty-cycle. This implies an improvement of 50 per cent compared to other power ...

On board of satellites traditionally Travelling Wave Tube Amplifiers (TWTAs) together with standard waveguide technology were used for transmitters in telecommunication payload systems. With the advent of Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs) printed circui ...

In this paper we compare the predicted Corona breakdown power threshold obtained by different ionization rate models for an infinite parallel-plate waveguide. We point out the lack of a unanimous model of the ionization rate for RF fields and study the dif ...

In this paper, we present a discussion on the performances of different existing methods for computing the Green's functions of an infinite parallel plate waveguide, considering point sources as excitation. These kind of Green's functions are appropriate f ...

This study reviews the coupling matrix synthesis of dissipative microwave filters. It compares it to the synthesis of lossless transfer functions and shows that by correctly interpreting the mathematical operations in the lossless case, that is especially ...
