We attempt to examine the potential of silicon nanowire memristors in the field of nanobiosensing. The mem- ristive devices are crystalline Silicon (Si) Nanowires (NWs) with Nickel Silicide (NiSi) terminals. The nanowires are fabricated on a Silicon-on-Ins ...

We present here, for the first time, a fabrication technique that allows manufacturing scallop free, non-tapered, high aspect ratio in through-silicon vias (TSVs) on silicon wafers. TSVs are among major technology players in modern high-volume manufacturin ...

Monitoring of metabolic compounds in cell cultures can provide real-time information of cell line status. This is particularly important in those lines not fully known, as the case of embryonic and mesenchymal cells. On the other hand, such approach can pa ...

Despite the huge expansion in recent years of sweat sensing and wearable technologies, several challenges are still open, including poor sample collection, separate sampling and analysis, low multi-sensing capabilities and materials toxicity. In this work, ...

The benefits of green technology have industrial use of composites reinforced with biofibers garner attention. They are replacing conventional plastics due to their capability to solve environmental issues. Despite this shift in material development, the s ...

We report the experimental study of noise in electrochemical biosensors as related to voltage and concentration. A comparison with experiments is performed for H2O2 and Ferrocyanide with bare sensors and with sensors functionalized wi ...

This paper presents a novel CMOS RF-to-DC converter for ultra-low-power wireless sensor nodes powered by RF wireless power transfer. The proposed converter achieves 10% higher power conversion efficiency than a conventional rectifier, with only a 1% increa ...

A micro-fabrication process is proposed to realize high-thickness spiral inductors for the remote powering of implantable biosensors through inductive link. The process is suitable for different substrates, such as silicon and Pyrex, and enables the fabric ...

Memristors are garnering significant attention due to their high similarity to biological neurons and synapses, alongside their unique physical mechanisms. Biosensors exhibiting memristive behaviour have demonstrated substantial efficacy in detecting thera ...

Protein electrochemistry represents a powerful technique for investigating the function and structure of proteins. Currently available biochemical assays provide limited information related to the conformational state of proteins and high costs. This work ...

Optical blood glucose sensing offers pain-free, non-invasive, continuous monitoring with minimum risk of infection since it does not require breaking the skin barrier. Among various optical detection and spectroscopic techniques, only Raman scattering offe ...

We present a novel integrated circuit for a biosensing data acquisition chain. The circuit controls and reads out five bimolecular sensors as well as pH and temperature sensors for biosensor calibration. The IC supports both chronoamperometry (CA) a ...

Memristive devices offer a promising approach for biosensing due to their high sensitivity. In two-terminal planar devices, the movement of charged species in the semiconductor channel creates a voltage gap, which can be exploited for sensing. In this stud ...

This paper presents an electronic system for a fast DNA label-less detection. The sensitivity of the capacitive sensor in use is improved by depositing an insulating self-assembled monolayer (SAM) over the golden electrodes. The capacitance shift due to th ...

As high readout channel density and compact design become the norm for HEP detectors so is the detector cooling at temperatures below the experimental site dewpoint. This increases the importance of humidity and temperature monitoring systems that are also ...

Despite the huge research effort to improve the performance of the complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensors, charge-coupled devices (CCDs) still dominate the cell biology-related conventional fluorescence microscopic imaging market wher ...

Real-time measure of muscular fatigue during physical exercise is highly demanded in fields as rehabilitation and physiotherapy, both hospital and home-based. In addition to the well-accepted features extracted from EMG measurements, an increasing interest ...

In this work, novel platforms for paracetamol sensing were developed by the deposition of Bi2O3, Bi5O7NO3 and their heterostructures onto screen-printed carbon-paste electrodes. An easy and scalable solid state synthesis route was employed, and by setting ...

A comparison between engineered and commercially available L-lactate oxidases from Aerococcus viridans was conducted for biosensing applications. Enzymes were adsorbed onto the surfaces of graphite electrodes modified with multi-walled carbon nanotubes. Th ...

The development and characterization of resistive humidity sensors based on Chitosan on a glass substrate is reported. The sensor electrodes are made of laser-induced graphene derived from Chitosan, which represents a sustainability advancement by eliminat ...
