Quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (qMRI) can increase the specificity and sensitivity of conventional weighted MRI to underlying pathology by comparing meaningful physical or chemical parameters, measured in physical units, with normative values acqu ...

Introduction Quantifying the myelin sheath radius of myelinated axons in vivo is important for understanding, diagnosing, and monitoring various neurological disorders. Despite advancements in diffusion MRI (dMRI) microstructure techniques, there are curre ...

Adverse conditions during fetal life have been associated to both structural and functional changes in neurodevelopment from the neonatal period to adolescence. In this study, connectomics was used to assess the evolution of brain networks from infancy to ...

Very preterm birth (VPT;

Tractography enables identifying and evaluating the healthy and diseased brain's white matter pathways from diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging data. As previous evaluation studies have reported significant false-positive estimation biases, recen ...

There are currently no biomarkers for autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This neurodevelopmental condition has previously been associated with histopathological findings, including increased neuronal packing density in the amygdala, abnormal laminar cytoarchi ...

Diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (dMRI) has demonstrated great capabilities to quantify tissue microstructure using biophysical diffusion models. Over the years, various gradient sequences have been proposed to provide sensitivity and specificity to va ...

Recovering the distribution from multi-echo magnetic resonance (MR) signals is challenging but has high potential as it provides biomarkers characterizing the tissue micro-structure, such as the myelin water fraction (MWF). In this work, we propose to comb ...

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory and neurodegenerative disease characterized by diffuse and focal areas of tissue loss. Conventional MRI techniques such as T1-weighted and T2-weighted scans are generally used in the diagnosis and prognosis of the ...

A number of algorithms for brain segmentation in preterm born infants have been published, but a reliable comparison of their performance is lacking. The NeoBrainS12 study (http://neobrains12.isi.uu.nl), providing three different image sets of preterm born ...

A critical step before data-sharing of human neuroimaging is removing facial features to protect individuals' privacy. However, not only does this process redact identifiable information about individuals, but it also removes non-identifiable information. ...

The brain is probably the most complex system of the human body, composed of numerous neural units interconnected at dierent scales. This highly structured architecture provides the ability to communicate, synthesize information and perform the analytical ...

Children born prematurely are at high risk for long-term abnormal development, including deficits in attentional abilities that persist throughout adolescence. The severity of these cognitive difficulties varies significantly among preterm-born children, w ...

Extreme prematurity and pregnancy conditions leading to intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) affect thousands of newborns every year and increase their risk for poor higher order cognitive and social skills at school age. However, little is known about t ...

Limitations in the accuracy of brain pathways reconstructed by diffusion MRI (dMRI) tractography have received considerable attention. While the technical advances spearheaded by the Human Connectome Project (HCP) led to significant improvements in dMRI da ...

Higher risk for long-term cognitive and behavioral impairments is one of the hallmarks of extreme prematurity (EP) and pregnancy-associated fetal adverse conditions such as intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). While neurodevelopmental delay and abnormal ...
