Neutron inelastic scattering has been used to measure the magnetic excitations in powdered NiPS3, a quasitwo-dimensional antiferromagnet with spin S = 1 on a honeycomb lattice. The spectra show clear, dispersive magnons with a similar to 7 meV gap at the B ...

Collective magnetic excitations are a fascinating aspect of condensed matter physics, where neutron scattering can provide valuable insight into the magnetic properties of physical realisations of model systems. This thesis focuses on the excitation spectr ...

FePS3 is a van der Waals compound with a honeycomb lattice that is a good example of a two-dimensional antiferromagnet with Ising-like anisotropy. Neutron spectroscopy data from FePS3 were previously analyzed using a straightforward Heisenberg Hamiltonian ...

We show that the observed ferromagnetic behavior of ZnO lightly doped with Mn coincides with the presence of MnO nanoparticles, whereas cluster-free Mn doped ZnO behaves paramagnetically. This conclusion is reached by a study of the structural and magnetic ...

Iron based high temperature superconductors have several common features with superconducting cuprates, including the square lattice and the proximity to an antiferromagnetic phase. The magnetic excitation spectrum below T-c of Fe1.02Te0.7Se0.3 shows an ho ...

Neutron scattering from single crystals has been used to determine the magnetic structure and magnon dynamics of FePS3, an S = 2 Ising-like quasi-two-dimensional antiferromagnet with a honeycomb lattice. The magnetic structure has been confirmed to have a ...

Resonant absorption can be used as a filter for high energy neutron spectroscopy. Here we report the transmission of eight thin foil filters: erbium, indium, iridium, dysprosium, hafnium, gadolinium, cadmium and samarium, measured using neutron time-of-fli ...

High field magnetization measurements in pulsed fields up to 65 T have been performed on FePS3, which is nominally a good example of a two-dimensional Ising-like antiferromagnet on a honeycomb lattice. Measurements with the field parallel to the moment dir ...
