Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) are electrochemical devices that convert chemical energy from fuel directly into electrical and thermal energy. They present high electrical efficiency and because of this feature they are considered to be an important power ...

A model-based Design of Experiments method was employed for the optimisation of measurements on a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC). Based on a simplified SOFC model, a variation of the D-optimality was used as optimisation criterion for the calculation of opti ...

The experimental validation of a real-time optimization (RTO) strategy for the optimal operation of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) stack is reported in this paper. Unlike many existing studies, the RTO approach presented here utilizes the constraint-adapta ...

In this paper the effect of systematic errors in gas temperature measurements on the thermal control of a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell system is demonstrated. Three control schemes were tested under two different conditions. First, the real gas temperature at the ...

We develop a mathematical model and simulate the measurement of gas temperatures as applied by insertion of a thermocouple into a gas stream in order to integrate this model in a model that simulates the Heat Exchanger of an SOFC system. The model is valid ...
