Integrated photonics will play a key role in quantum systems as they grow from few-qubit prototypes to tens of thousands of qubits. The underlying optical quantum technologies can only be realized through the integration of these components onto quantum ph ...

The emission color from colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) is usually tuned through control of particle size, while multicolor emission is obtained by mixing NCs of different sizes within an emissive layer. Here, we demonstrate that recently introd ...

Data and code associated with the following paper V. Vento, et al., Phys. Rev. Res. (2025) A thorough explanation of the experiment performed is available there. The name of each sub-folder and file in S-AS_chi3_code.zip indicates the corresponding figure ...

We present Molecular Vibration Explorer, a freely accessible online database and interactive tool for exploring vibrational spectra and tensorial lightvibration coupling strengths of a large collection of thiolated molecules. The "Gold" version of the data ...

A single quantum of excitation of a mechanical oscillator is a textbook example of the principles of quantum physics. But mechanical oscillators, despite their pervasive presence in nature and modem technology, do not genetically exist in an excited Fock s ...

Plasmonic nanojunctions, consisting of adjacent metal structures with nanometre gaps, can support localised plasmon resonances that boost light matter interactions and concentrate electromagnetic fields at the nanoscale. In this regime, the optical respons ...

Nanocavities formed by ultrathin metallic gaps permitthe reproducibleengineering and enhancement of light-matter interaction, withmode volumes reaching the smallest values allowed by quantum mechanics. While the enhanced vacuum field in metallic nanogaps ha ...

Direct detection of single photons at wavelengths beyond 2 mu m under ambient conditions remains an outstanding technological challenge. One promising approach is frequency upconversion into the visible (VIS) or near-infrared (NIR) domain, where single-pho ...

Synthetically grown high-quality single crystal diamond is an excellent base material for quantum photonics. Planar single crystal diamond substrates several square millimeters in size are nowadays commercially available. They can be precisely structured u ...

We report the experimental nondemolition measurement of coherence, predictability and concurrence on a system of two qubits. The quantum circuits proposed by De Melo et al. (Phys Rev Lett 98(25):250501, 2007) are implemented on IBM Q (superconducting circu ...

Colloidal "dot-in-bulk" nanocrystals (DiB NCs) consist of a quantum confined core embedded into a bulklike shell of a larger energy gap. The first reported example of this class of nanostructures are CdSe/CdS DiB NCs that are capable of producing tunable t ...

We demonstrate the generation of quantum-correlated photon pairs combined with the spectral filtering of the pump field by more than 95 dB on a single silicon chip using electrically tunable ring resonators and passive Bragg reflectors. Moreover, we perfor ...

Sum-frequency generation (SFG) enables the coherent upconversion of electromagnetic signals and plays a significant role in mid-infrared vibrational spectroscopy for molecular analysis. Recent research indicates that plasmonic nanocavities, which confine l ...

The plasmonic response of gold can be utilized to enhance the incident electromagnetic (EM) field by several orders of magnitude. When a gold nanoparticle is placed in close proximity to a gold film, the incident field can excite a deeply confined plasmon, ...

Immense field enhancement and nanoscale confinement of light are possible within nanoparticle-on-mirror (NPoM) plasmonic resonators, which enable novel optically activated physical and chemical phenomena and render these nanocavities greatly sensitive to m ...

Counting single photons and measuring their arrival time is of crucial importance for imaging and quantum applications that use single photons to outperform classical techniques. The investigation of the coincidence, i.e. correlation, between photons can b ...

Time-resolved Raman spectroscopy techniques offer various ways to study the dynamics of molecular vibrations in liquids or gases and optical phonons in crystals. While these techniques give access to the coherence time of the vibrational modes, they are no ...

Photons of a laser beam driving the upper motional sideband of an optomechanical cavity can decay into photon-phonon pairs by means of an optomechanical parametric process. The phononic state can subsequently be mapped to a photonic state by exciting the l ...

We design a resistive heater optimized for efficient and low-loss optical phase modulation in a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) waveguide and characterize the fabricated devices. Modulation is achieved by flowing current perpendicular to a new ridge waveguide g ...

Vibrational Raman scattering-a process where light exchanges energy with a molecular vibration through inelastic scattering-is most fundamentally described in a quantum framework where both light and vibration are quantized. When the Raman scatterer is emb ...
