Layered hybrid organic−inorganic perovskite (LHOIP) materials constructed with low-band-gap chromophore-based organic spacer cations are anemerging class of materials that promise unique tunability of their optoelectronic properties. However, the large siz ...

Nanoporous layers of poly(3,4-propylenedioxythiophene) (PProDOT) were fabricated by electrical-field-assisted growth using hydrophobic ionic liquids as the growing medium. A series of PProDoT layers was prepared with three different ionic liquids to contro ...

A novel heteroleptic ruthenium complex carrying a heteroaromatic-4,4'-pi-conjugated 2,2'-bipyridine [Ru(II)LL'(NCS)(2)] (L = 4,4'-bis[(E)-2-(3,4-ethylenedioxythien-2-yl)vinyl]-2,2'-bipyridine, L' = 4,4'-(dicarboxylic acid)-2,2'-bipyridine) was synthesized ...

Energy transfer from phosphorescent ruthenium complex N877 dissolved in the liquid electrolyte to the squaraine sensitizer SQ1 anchored on the titanium oxide surface resulted in a four fold increase in external quantum efficiency in the blue part of the vi ...

We report herein lightweight, and economical dye-sensitized solar cells fabrication facilitated by an all plastic, metal free cathode consisting of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene). ...

We present two sensitizers, Ru(4,4'-dicarboxyvinyl)-2,2'-bipyridine)(4,4'-dinonyl-2,2'-bipyridine)(NCS)(2) (K9) and Ru(4,4'-dicarboxy(phenylethenyl)-2,2'-bipyridine)(4,4'-dinonyl-2,2'-bipyridine)(NCS)(2) (K23), which were synthesized and characterized by a ...

The paradigm shift in dye sensitized solar cells (DSCs) - towards donor-pi bridge-acceptor (D-pi-A) dyes - increases the performances of DSCs and challenges established design principles. Framed by this shifting landscape, a series of four diketopyrrolopyr ...

The employment of 2D perovskites is a promising approach to tackling the stability and voltage issues inherent in perovskite solar cells. It remains unclear, however, whether other perovskites with different dimensionalities have the same effect on efficie ...

The present invention provides an improved redox couple for electrochemical and optoelectronic devices. The redox couple is based on a complex of a first row transition metal, said complex containing at least one mono-, bi-, or tridentate ligand comprising ...

The dye-sensitized solar cells based on the functionalized organic sensitizer, 3-(5-(5-(4-(bis(4-(hexyloxy)-phenyl)amino)phenyl)thiophen-2-yl)thiophen-2-yl)-2-cyanoacrylic acid (D21L6) exhibit comparable stability to the ruthenium sensitizers under 60 degr ...

An efficient synthesis of N-(2 ',4 '-bis(hexyloxy)-[1,1 '-biphenyl]-4-yl)-N-(4-bromophenyl)-2 ',4 '-bis(hexyloxy)-[ 1,1 '-biphenyl]-4-amine (BPTPA donor, 5) was developed based on a new 4-step synthetic route. The BPTPA donor is used to quickly access two ...

Solid-state nanocrystalline solar cells composed of chemical-bath-deposited Sb2S3 (antimony sulfide) as a light absorber layer deposited on nano-porous TiO2 and spiro-MeOTAD as an organic hole-transporting material yielded a solar conversion efficiency of ...

A series of novel near-infrared-absorbing zinc phthalocyanines bearing donor-chromophore-acceptor/anchoring groups have been synthesized to investigate their influence on solar cell performance. With the aim of extending the absorption spectra while mainta ...

Defect passivation is an efficient strategy for improving the performance of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In this study, we introduced a benzodithiophene-based 2D spacer with a short alkyl chain (BDT-C2) into a perovskite film for defect passivation. The ...

Interface engineering in perovskite solar cells is key to high performance. Now, You et al. design an interlayer that both passivates defects and improves the energy level alignment between the perovskite and hole transport material. ...

1,6-Dithiophenol-substituted perylene organic sensitizer 1 was synthesized, and its photovoltaic properties in dye-sensitized solar cells were assessed. When anchored onto TiO2 film, the dye exhibits an unprecedented incident monochromatic photon-to-curren ...

Versatility of Bodipy (4,4-difluoro-4-bora-3a, 4a-diaza-s-indacene) dyes was further expanded in recent dye-sensitized solar cell applications. Here we report a series of derivatives designed to address earlier problems in Bodipy sensitized solar cells. In ...
