In this paper, we propose a method to create a natively hydrophilic microfluidic structure in a fast and simple way using an UV-curable polymer (NOA 63 from Norland Optics). This polymer can provide a substitute to PDMS microchannels offering high reproduc ...

While fluorescence detection is widely used for bioassays owing to its high sensitivity, a complete fluorescent microscopy setup, comprised of a light source, optical filters, a microscope body, and a camera, still is bulky equipment, compromising its use ...

We present a monolithic silicon chip comprising a matrix of 84 single photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) to detect and discriminate fluorescent beads or fluorescently labeled single cells in a polydimethyl(-siloxane) (PDMS) cartridge that is positioned on top ...

We present a hybrid CMOS-based microfluidic system that combines magnetic actuation of microparticles with in situ optical detection using single photon avalanche diodes (SPADs). The decoupling of the principles used for actuation and sensing permits a hig ...

Microfluidics plays a key role in the design of automated platforms for realizing biological assays in a miniaturized format. Several advantages are offered by a microfluidic system, namely, low sample and reagent consumption (typically a few microliters), ...

We report on an innovative approach to on-chip detection of single fluorescently-labeled magnetic micro-particles by means of Single Photon Avalanche Diode (SPAD) arrays. Our system enables particle separation through magnetic actuation and highly sensitiv ...
