Nowadays processing systems are asked to support increasing complex and demanding high-performance applications, especially in the signal processing and video processing domains. The design of these systems are becoming extremely challenging because of sev ...

Signal processing algorithms become more and more complex and the algorithm architecture adaptation and design processes cannot any longer rely only on the intuition of the designers to build efficient systems. Specific tools and methods are needed to cope ...

This paper describes a methodology for the optimization of portable parallel signal processing applications specified by dataflow programs. The use of dataflow as a programming model for signal processing applications targeting parallel platforms provides ...

Video coding technology has evolved in the past years into a variety of diff erent and complex algorithms. So far the specifications of such standard algorithms have been done case by case, providing monolithic textual and reference software specifications, ...

Video coding technology has evolved in the past years into a variety of different and complex algorithms. So far the specification of such standard algorithms has been done case by case providing monolithic textual and reference SW specifications, but with ...

Signal processing designs are becoming increasingly complex with demands for more advanced algorithms. Designers are now seeking high-level tools and methodology to help manage complexity and increase productivity. Recently, CAL dataflow language has been ...

The specification of complex signal processing systems in hardware by means of HDL is no longer the appropriate way since they are known to be time consuming to design, and less flexible to extend features. Recently, \CAL dataflow language was specified to ...

In 2004, ISO/IEC SC29 better known as MPEG started a new standard initiative aiming at facilitating the deployment of multi-format video codec design and to enable the possibility of reconfiguring video codecs using a library of standard components. The ne ...

The current monolythic and lengthy scheme behind the standardization and the design of new video coding standards is becoming inappropriate to satisfy the dynamism and changing needs of the video coding community. Such scheme and specification formal- ism ...

The upcoming Reconfigurable Video Coding (RVC) standard from MPEG (ISO / IEC SC29WG11) defines a library of coding tools to specify existing or new compressed video formats and decoders. The coding tool library has been written in a dataflow/actor- oriented l ...
