Catalytic Chemical Vapour Deposition (CCVD) is considered as the most suitable technique for the large scale and low-cost production of multiwalled carbon nanotubes. We have studied the effect of the preparation process, and of the support particle size on ...

Phase transitions in micro-, submicro-, and nanocrystalline NaNbO3 were investigated by temperature-tuning Raman spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction method. Three powders with different average particle size showed successive phase transitions within ...

While in 3D materials melting is a single, first-order phase transition, in 2D systems, it can also proceed via an intermediate phase. For a skyrmion lattice in Cu2OSeO3, magnetic field variations can tune this quasiparticle 2D solid into a skyrmion liquid ...

We have measured the pressure and temperature dependences of the resistivity and the thermoelectric power of anatase, TiO2. The resistivity varies with T-3 at high temperatures, and its absolute value is in the 1 Omega cm range. Below 60 K, the resistivity ...

We have developed a conducting composite based on multi-walled carbon nanotubes and bisphenol A novolak epoxy resin (SU8) for inkjet printing purposes. We could deposit regular conducting stripes and arrays of 150 mu m spots on glass and on flexible polyet ...

We propose, fabricate, and experimentally demonstrate a circuit based on graphene field-effect transistors (GFETs) showing enhanced negative differential resistance (NDR) characteristics at room temperature. The proposed graphene NDR (GNDR) circuit consist ...

We measured the elastic modulus of individual multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) grown by catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CVD) over a broad diameter range (10-25 nm). Alternating current (ac) dielectrophoresis was used for efficient tube deposition ...

We report a novel electrochemical sensor based on nanographite grown on platinum microelectrodes for the determination of bilirubin in the presence of normal concentrations of albumin. The albumin is a protein with an intrinsic ability to bind the bilirubi ...

Catalytic chemical vapour deposition (CCVD) is currently the most promising technique to produce carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on a specific site as well as on a large-scale. Here, we review our recent experimental studies on CNTs grown by CCVD. The yield as wel ...

Composites based on polydiphenylamine (PDPA) doped with heteropolyanions of H3PW12O40 and single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) were prepared by electrochemical polymerization of diphenylamine (DPA) on carbon nanotube films deposited onto Pt electrodes. H ...

We prepared a Mg-2 mass % multiwall carbon nanotubes composite employing a powder metallurgy technique. The kinetics of hydrogen absorption/desorption of the as-synthesized composite was much faster than that of reference samples of pure Mg. The pressure-c ...

This communication reports on the growth of highly uniform KNbO3 nanowires exhibiting a narrow diameter distribution around 60 nm and a length-to-width ratio up to 100. The nanowires were prepared by a hydrothermal route, which enables simple, gram-scale p ...

We report resistivity and thermo-electric power measurements of the anatase phase of TiO2 under pressure up to 2.3 GPa. Despite its transparent appearance, the single crystal of anatase exhibits a metallic-like resistivity above 60 K, at all pressures. The ...

LiCu3O3 is an antiferromagnetic mixed valence cuprate where trilayers of edge -sharing Cu(II)O (3d9) are sandwiched in between planes of Cu(I) (3d10) ions, with Li stochastically substituting Cu(II). Angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and de ...

We report on the increase of the Young's modulus (E) of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) grown multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) upon high temperature heat treatment. The post heat-treatment at 2200-2800 degrees C in a controlled atmosphere results in a ...

The temperature and pressure characteristics of a noncentrosymmetric crystal modification of NaNbO3 were studied by Raman spectroscopy. A transition towards the bulk-like structure of NaNbO3 occurs in the temperature range from 280 to 360 °C. High-pressure ...

The discovery of a novel long-lived metastable skyrmion phase in the multiferroic insulator Cu2OSeO3 visualized with Lorentz transmission electron microscopy for magnetic fields below the equilibrium skyrmion pocket is reported. This phase can be accessed ...

Magnetic properties of a large assembly of ultrathin graphitic particles obtained by heavy sonication of graphite powder dispersed in N-methylpyrrolidone were measured by electron-spin resonance (ESR). The ESR signal was decomposed into one narrow and one ...

Single crystals of Fe[SeO4]OH have been synthesized by hydrothermal treatment. The Fe[SeO4]OH structure was investigated using the superspace approach. It is shown that the structure belongs to a family of compounds including kieserite-like and pauflerite- ...

The long term stability and the redox interaction between single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) and photosynthetic reaction center proteins (RCs) purified from purple bacterium Rhodobacter sphaeroides R-26 in the SWNT/RC complex has been investigated. The ...
