The present doctoral thesis aims to contribute to the field of organic semiconductor physics and technology, both of which have become fast growing disciplines. Two technological applications are emerging from these research efforts: Organic light-emitting ...

We report on the structural and electronic interface formation between ITO (indium-tin-oxide) and prototypical organic small molecular semiconductors, i.e., CuPc (copper phthalocyanine) and alpha-NPD (N,N'-di(naphtalen-1-yl)-N,N'-diphenyl-benzidine). In pa ...

A novel, highly blue luminescent molecule containing donor and acceptor groups, 4,4 prime -di-(2-(2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)ethenyl)-2,2 prime -bipyridine, that shows photoluminescence emission at 450 nm with 43% quantum yield is designed and synthesized. Time d ...

The performance and charge transport characteristics of pentacene transistors with oxide gates such as SiO2 and Al2O3 have been recently shown to largely depend on the density of residual carriers due to electron acceptor defects at the oxide surface. The ...

The electronic processes responsible for charge transport and electroluminescence in multilayered organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) are very sensitive to the properties of the organic heterojunction. In particular, the height of the energy barrier affe ...
