The concept of the IntegrCiTy platform is built around the development of a single application as a suite of independent software: project partners will mutualize a certain number of tools that shall be integrated in the IntegrCiTy platform. Therefore, a r ...

This paper describes the development and application of a new unique tool to support designers to optimise the sustainability of urban neighbourhoods (SUNtool). In this the paper introduces (i) the software architecture, (ii) the integrated solver and rela ...

This study aims towards an improved estimation of annual heat demand of the building stock for an entire region. This requires the holistic representation of aspects influencing the heat demand of buildings, namely their geometry, fabric, users and surroun ...

The consumption of resources within an urban neighbourhood depends on the behaviour of its occupants. To understand the randomness of this behaviour and its effect on the demand of resources calls for the development of a set of stochastic models which are ...

This work takes benefit from two advanced building technologies through the integration of an anidolic daylighting system and an electro-chromic glazing in a building facade for achieving an optimal control of the daylight flux entering in an office room. ...

Distric Energy System (DES) represents a promising opportunity to improve energy efficiency and boost the decarbonization of the European energy sector. If most of the studies focus on small consumers typically located within urban areas, large energy user ...

Various factors play a part in the energy consumption of a building : its physical properties, the equipment installed for its functioning (the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system, auxiliary production of electricity or hot water), the outdoor ...

This article presents the development and application of a methodology that employs optimization not to seek the single or few optimal plan(s) but to provide planners with a systematic overview of their decision space. As urban development projects are not ...

Cities can play a key role in mitigating climate change impacts, as they represent two thirds of the world’s energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. This paper presents a model-based approach to support cities in the challenge of including energy ...

In this work, a method for taking into account seasonal storage in an energy optimisation problem is developed. A master-slave optimisation procedure is applied, in which the master optimisation is an evolutionary algorithm, while the slave optimisation is ...

This paper describes an algorithm for the simulation of occupant presence, to be later used as an input for future occupant behaviour models within building simulation tools. By considering occupant presence as an inhomogeneous Markov chain interrupted by ...

While most current building simulation tools consider occupants as predictable robots the true nature of human behaviour is more complex. This article describes a set of stochastic models aimed at capturing this complexity by decoupling occupant presence f ...
