Distributed Video Coding (DVC) is a new paradigm for video compression based on the information theoretical results of Slepian-Wolf (SW) and Wyner-Ziv (WZ). In this work, a performance analysis of image and video coding schemes based on DVC are presented, ...

In this paper, we consider the challenging problem of object duplicate detection and localization. Several applications require efficient object duplicate detection methods, such as automatic video and image tagging, video surveillance, and high level imag ...

Traditional broadcasting of TV contents begins to coexist with new models of user aware content delivery. The definition of interoperable interfaces for precise content search and retrieval between the different involved parties is a requirement for the de ...

In this paper, a novel scheme for video scrambling is introduced for Distributed Video Coding. The goal is to conceal video information in several applications such as video surveillance and anonymous video communications to preserve privacy. This is achie ...

Distributed Video Coding (DVC) is a new paradigm in video coding, based on the Slepian-Wolf and Wyner-Ziv theorems. DVC offers a number of potential advantages: flexible partitioning of the complexity between the encoder and decoder, robustness to channel ...

In this paper, we present a system for image replica detection. The technique is based on the extraction of 162 features corresponding to texture, colour and grey-level characteristics. These features are then weighted and statistically normalized. To impr ...

Distributed Video Coding (DVC) is a new paradigm in video coding, which is receiving a lot of interests nowadays. Side Information (SI) generation is a key function in the DVC decoder, and plays a key-role in determining the performance of the codec. This ...

This paper presents a search and retrieval framework that enables the management of Intellectual Property in the World Wide Web. This twofold framework helps users to detect digital rights infringements of their copyrighted content. In order to detect poss ...

In this paper we describe a database containing subjective assessment scores relative to 78 video streams encoded with H.264/AVC and corrupted by simulating the transmission over error-prone network. The data has been collected from 40 subjects at the prem ...

Video transcoding is an important step to enable interoperability between different networks, terminals, applications, and services for video communication. This paper studies the influence of typical video transcoding artifacts due to frame rate reduction ...

We consider dense networks of surveillance cameras capturing overlapped images of the same scene from different viewing directions, such a scenario being referred to as multi-view. Data compression is paramount in such a system due to the large amount of c ...

Research in the field of video quality assessment relies on the availability of subjective scores, collected by means of experiments in which groups of people are asked to rate the quality of video sequences. The availability of subjective scores is fundam ...

In this work, a performance evaluation of AVC Intra and JPEG2000 in terms of rate-distortion performance is conducted. A set of High Definition sequences with different spatial resolutions is used for this purpose. Results obtained show quite competitive p ...

Wyner-Ziv (WZ) video coding is an emerging video coding paradigm based on two major Information Theory results: the Slepian-Wolf and Wyner-Ziv theorems. One of the most interesting and used WZ video coding architectures makes use of a feedback channel (FC) ...

Tracking moving objects is a critical step for smart video surveillance systems. Despite the complexity increase, multiple camera systems exhibit the undoubted advantages of covering wide areas and handling the occurrence of occlusions by exploiting the di ...

In this paper, we address the problem of privacy in video surveillance systems. More specifically, we consider the case of H.264/AVC which is the state-of-the-art in video coding. We assume that Regions of Interest (ROI), containing privacy-sensitive infor ...

The issue of privacy protection in video surveillance has drawn a lot of interest lately. However, thorough performance analysis and validation is still lacking, especially regarding the fulfillment of privacy-related requirements. In this paper, we put fo ...

Increasingly, multimedia collections are associated with networked communities consisting of interconnected groups of users who create, annotate, share, view, critique and remix collection content. Information arises within networked communities via connec ...

JPEG XR is the newest image coding standard from the JPEG committee. It primarily targets the representation of continuous-tone still images such as photographic images, and achieves high image quality, on par with JPEG 2000, while requiring low computatio ...

In this paper, we propose a Secure JPEG, an open and flexible standardized framework to secure JPEG images. Its goal is to allow the efficient integration and use of security tools enabling a variety of security services such as confidentiality, integrity ...
