The purpose of this thesis is the study, from the numerical simulation point of view, of the aluminum electrolysis process. Navier-Stokes equations for the computation of a two fluids flow with free interface are coupled with Maxwell equations describing t ...

We present a numerical model for the simulation of 3D poly-dispersed sediment transport in a Newtonian flow with free surfaces. The physical model is based on a mixture model for multiphase flows. The Navier-Stokes equations are coupled with the transport ...

A numerical method based on an adaptive octree space discretization for the simulation of displacement of free surfaces is proposed and applied to 3D free surface flow problems. A VOF approach is combined with a mass-conserving semi-Lagrangian time-steppin ...

Numerical simulation in aluminum production envolves many different topics, this paper is dedicated to some aspects of two of them. In the first part, a numerical approach for the computation of the motion of the fluids in an electrolitic cell is presented ...
