Super Paramagnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles (SPIONs) com-bined with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are under clinical evaluation to enhance detection of neurodegenerative diseases. A major improvement would be to link therapeutic drugs to the SPIONs to a ...

Nanoscaled particles showing superparamagnetic behavior have been intensively studied in the past years for various applications. Nevertheless, the lack of well-defined particles remains an important problem. One of the major challenges is still the large- ...

PVA coated and fluorescent dye (Cy3.5) functionalized vinyl alcohol/vinyl amine copolymer coated superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION) were evaluated for systemic distribution and elimination after intraarticular injection in sheep. Observatio ...

Precipitated oxalates are often nanostructured and can be used as precursors for nanostructured oxides for different applications. The modification of the particle shape and nanostructures of both copper and cobalt oxalates has been demonstrated using poly ...

The present invention relates to nanoparticles having a mean diameter of < 500nm and comprising, at their surface, a selected material. The nanoparticles are taken up by cells under physiological conditions and can be used to isolate interaction partners o ...

During the last 40 years a focus in research was put on sutureless tissue fusion, to handle the limits of conventional suturing such as vascular wall damage due to the enetrating needle, intraluminal foreign body reactions caused by non-absorbable suture m ...

New approaches to increase the efficiency of non-viral gene delivery are still required. Here we report a simple approach that enhances gene delivery using permanent and pulsating magnetic fields. DNA plasmids and novel DNA fragments (PCR products) contain ...

Cysteine stabilized ZnS and Mn2+-doped ZnS nanoparticles were synthesized by a wet chemical route. Using the ZnS:Mn2+ nanoparticles as seeds, silica-coated ZnS (ZnS@Si) and ZnS:Mn2+ (ZnS:Mn2+@Si) nanocomposites were formed in water by hydrolysis and conden ...

The invention relates to nanoparticles based on a metal, on a metal alloy or on a metal derivative coated with a silica layer, in which the silica is crystalline silica, in particular crystalline silica in the cristobalite form. They may be prepared from n ...

Introduction: Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) have been successfully used for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of atherosclerotic plaques. Endocytosis into monocytes/macrophages has been proposed as the mechanism for SPION uptake, but a ...

The functionalization of nanoparticles is conditio sine qua non in studies of specific interaction with a biological target. Often, their biological functionality is achieved by covalent binding of bioactive molecules on a preexisting single surface coatin ...

The emerging importance of nanoparticle technology, including iron oxide nanoparticles for monitoring development, progression, and treatment of inflammatory diseases such as arthritis, drives development of imaging techniques. Studies require an imaging p ...

The invention relates to superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles for use in sutureless thermal mediated tissue fusion. The nanoparticles are dispersed in a biocompatible solder material and heated by application of an alternating electromagnetic field. ...

NOVELTY - The component partially or wholly comprises pigmented ceramic. The pigment comprises nanoparticles of metal of group IB in periodic table, alkaline metals or their alloy, coated with a layer of silica such as crystalline silica. The crystalline s ...

Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) were coated with polyethylenimine. Here, we briefly describe the synthesis as well as DNA:PEI:SPION complexes and the characterization of the compounds according to their particle size, zeta-potential, mo ...

In this work, we present a short summary of the synthesis and characterization of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles and their behavior in vitro and in vivo. Therefore, we have used various characterization techniques to deduce the physical particl ...

Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) are used in many biological applications, which necessitate intracellular targeting. Here, we investigate intracellular localization and gene expression in HeLa cells after treatment with functionalized S ...

Recently, functionalized superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) have been utilized for protein separation and therapeutic delivery of DNA and drugs. The development of new methods and tools for the targeting and identification of specific biom ...

The detection of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION) in synoviocytes is reported. Synoviocytes were incubated for 2, 12, 24 and 48 h with 1.5 mg/ml of PVA coated SPION under the influence of magnets (12 h). Particles were well tolerated by t ...
