In this work we present a stable proper orthogonal decomposition (POD)-Galerkin approximation for parametrized steady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with low Reynolds number. Supremizers solutions are added to the reduced velocity space in order to ...

In this paper, we carry out a numerical dispersion analysis for the linear two-dimensional elastodynamics equations approximated by means of NURBS-based Isogeometric Analysis in the framework of the Galerkin method; specifically, we consider the analysis o ...

Background and Objective: In the current work, we present a descriptive fluid-structure interaction computational study of the end -to -side radio-cephalic arteriovenous fistula. This allows us to account for the different thicknesses and elastic propertie ...

We are interested in the approximation of partial differential equations on domains decomposed into two (or several) subdomains featuring non-conforming interfaces. The non-conformity may be due to different meshes and/or different polynomial degrees used ...

We introduce an innovative lumped-parameter model of the aortic valve, designed to efficiently simulate the impact of valve dynamics on blood flow. Our reduced model includes the elastic effects associated with the leaflets’ curvature and the stress exchan ...

We propose a numerical method for the solution of the Quasi3D hydrodynamic equations. This approach uses a combination of standard linear finite elements along the vertical direction and non-conforming Raviart-Thomas elements in the horizontal planes. We describe, also, a suitable approximation for the convective terms

In this paper we present a compact review on the mostly used techniques for computational reduction in numerical approximation of partial differential equations. We highlight the common features of these techniques and provide a detailed presentation of th ...

In this chapter we describe the basic ideas of reduced basis (RB) approximation methods for rapid and reliable evaluation of input-output relationships in which the output is expressed as a functional of a field variable that is the solution of an input-parametrized partial differential equation (PDE). We shall focus on linear output functionals and affinely parametrized linear elliptic coercive PDEs.

Some new domain decomposition methods (DDM) based on optimal control approach are introduced for the coupling of first- and second-order equations on overlapping subdomains. Several cost functionals and control functions are proposed. Uniqueness and existe ...

BACKGROUND The isthmus of ventricular tachycardia (VT) circuits has been extensively characterized. Few data exist regarding the contribution of the outer loop (OL) to the VT circuit. OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to characterize the electrophysi ...

The increasing computational load required by most applications and the limits in hardware performances affecting scientific computing contributed in the last decades to the development of parallel software and architectures. In Fluid-Structure Interaction ...

In this paper we develop and analyze a multilevel weighted reduced basis method for solving stochastic optimal control problems constrained by Stokes equations. We prove the analytic regularity of the optimal solution in the probability space under certain ...

In this paper, we present an exact Riemann solver for one-dimensional systems of conservation laws. The method is based on an offline-online computational decomposition. During the offline stage, we generate an accurate surrogate model for the solution to ...

We consider the Rosenbrock methods, namely a family of methods for Differential Algebraic Equations, for the solution of the unsteady three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations. These multistage schemes are attractive for non-linear problems because they ac ...

We propose a novel epidemiological model, referred to as SEIHRDV, for the numerical simulation of the COVID-19 epidemic, validated using data from Italy starting in September 2020. SEIHRDV includes the following compartments: Susceptible (S), Exposed (E), ...

This paper is concerned with the solution of heterogeneous problems by the interface control domain decomposition (ICDD) method, a strategy introduced for the solution of partial differential equations in computational domains partitioned into subdomains t ...

In this paper we propose a stabilized conforming finite volume element method for the Stokes equations. On stating the convergence of the method, optimal a priori error estimates in different norms are obtained by establishing the adequate connection betwe ...

Purpose Quantification of myocardial blood flow (MBF) and functional assessment of coronary artery disease (CAD) can be achieved through stress myocardial computed tomography perfusion (stress-CTP). This requires an additional scan after the resting corona ...

In this paper we propose a rescaled localized radial basis function (RL-RBF) interpolation method, based on the use of compactly supported radial basis functions. Starting from the classical RBF interpolation technique, we introduce a rescaling that allows ...
