The question of how self-interacting chromatin domains in interphase chromosomes are structured and generated dominates current discussions on eukaryotic chromosomes. Numerical simulations using standard polymer models have been helpful in testing the vali ...

When a classical conservation law is broken by quantum corrections, the associated symmetry is said to be anomalous. This type of symmetry breaking can lead to interesting physics. For instance in strong interactions, the anomaly in the chiral current is i ...

We improve and extend our study of the complex in-medium heavy-quark potential and its Debye mass m(D) in a gluonic medium with a finer scan around the deconfinement transition and newly generated ensembles closer to the thermodynamic limit. On the lattice ...

We calculated the real and imaginary parts of the static quark-antiquark potential at T > 0 in 2 + 1 flavor QCD using correlators of Wilson lines in Coulomb gauge and lattices with temporal extent N-tau = 12. We find that the real part of the potential is ...

We find a new type of topological vortex solution in the U(1)(Z) xU(1)(A) Chern-Simons gauge theory in the presence of a U(1)(A) magnetic field background. In this theory U(1)(Z) is broken spontaneously by the U(1)(A) magnetic field. These vortices exhibit ...

We extend our lattice QCD potential based study [1] of the in-medium properties of heavy quark bound states to P-wave bottomonium and charmonium. Similar to the behavior found in the S-wave channel their spectra show a characteristic broadening, as well as ...

Understanding the structure of interphase chromosomes is essential to elucidate regulatory mechanisms of gene expression. During recent years, high-throughput DNA sequencing expanded the power of chromosome conformation capture (3C) methods that provide in ...

We present a state-of-the-art determination of the complex valued static quark-antiquark potential at phenomenologically relevant temperatures around the deconfinement phase transition. Its values are obtained from nonperturbative lattice QCD simulations u ...

The vector channel spectral function at zero spatial momentum is calculated at next-to-leading order in thermal QCD for any quark mass. It corresponds to the imaginary part of the massive quark contribution to the photon polarisation tensor. The spectrum s ...

Recently lots of effort has been made to obtain the next-to-leading-order and Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal corrections to the thermal dilepton emission rate in perturbative QCD. Here we apply these results to the plasma created in heavy-ion collisions and see ...

We report recent results of a non-perturbative determination of the static heavy-quark potential in quenched and dynamical lattice QCD at finite temperature. The real and imaginary part of this complex quantity are extracted from the spectral function of W ...

The bulk viscosity of thermalized QCD matter at temperatures above a few hundred MeV could be significantly influenced by charm quarks because their contribution arises four perturbative orders before purely gluonic effects. In an attempt to clarify the ch ...

The FASTSUM collaboration has been carrying out simulations of N-f = 2 + 1 QCD at nonzero temperature in the fixed-scale approach using anisotropic lattices. Here we present the status of these studies, including recent results for electrical conductivity ...

We describe a possible creation of an odd number of fractionally charged fermions in the 1+1 dimensional Abelian Higgs model. We point out that for 1+1 dimensions this process does not violate any symmetries of the theory, nor makes it mathematically incon ...

Following the original idea of Debye, we define and extract a gauge-invariant screening mass from the complex static in-medium heavy-quark potential V-Q (Q) over bar, recently obtained from lattice QCD. To this end we derive a formula using concepts from b ...

We report on a new topological vortex solution in U(1) x U(1) Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory. The existence of the vortex is envisaged by analytical means, and a numerical solution is obtained by integrating the equations of motion. These vortices have a long ...

The one-loop fermionic contribution to the probability of an instanton transition with fermion number violation is calculated in the chiral Abelian Higgs model in 1+1 dimensions, where the fermions have a Yukawa coupling to the scalar field. The dependence ...

We construct a 2 + 1 dimensional model that sustains superconductivity at all temperatures. This is achieved by introducing a Chern-Simons mixing term between two Abelian gauge fields A and Z. The superfluid is described by a complex scalar charged under Z ...
