Felix Naef studied theoretical physics at the ETHZ and obtained his PhD from the EPFL in 2000. He then received postdoctoral training at the Center for Studies in Physics and Biology at the Rockefeller University (NYC) under the guidance of Prof. Magnasco. His research focuses on the modeling and interpretation of high-throughput functional data and the study of biomolecular oscillators. He joined ISREC as an associate scientist in early 2004 and is currently Associate Professor in the Institute of Bioengineering (IBI). Teaching & PhD PhD Students Eliane Duperrex, Patricia Reinert, Florian Curvaia, Arsh Yusuf Shaikh, Yves Jean Paychère, Andrea Salati Past EPFL PhD Students Guillaume Rey, Thomas d'Eysmond, Mirko Bischofberger, Laura Symul, Jonathan Bieler, Benjamin Zoller, Julia Catharina Cajan, Johannes Becker, Jonathan Aryeh Sobel, Rosamaria Cannavo, Damien Lionel Nicolas, Jérôme Mermet, Cédric Gobet, Jake Yeung, Colas Noé Droin, Clémence Yumie Syloun Hurni, Lorenzo Talamanca, Irene Lamberti, Elena Tonin, Maxine Leonardi Past EPFL PhD Students as codirector Haleh Yasrebi, Simon Blanchoud, Nicolas Dénervaud, Alessandro De Simone, Onur Tidin Courses Dynamical systems in biology BIO-341 Life is non-linear. This course introduces dynamical systems as a technique for modelling simple biological processes. The emphasis is on the qualitative and numerical analysis of non-linear dynamical models. Examples are taken from biology and population models. Life Sciences engineering: genome to function BIO-411 Students will acquire fundamental knowledge regarding how genomes can be engineered, how their function can be deciphered, and how their dynamic outputs can be analyzed and modeled, exemplified with a focus on cell cycle progression and proliferation control. Awards Leenaards Prize 2012 Membership to European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) 2020
