For the spaceXin a large class of finite alphabet shift spaces (lattice models) and the class of functionsfwith bounded total oscillations, we prove that each equilibrium measure nu atf=phi is a weak Gibbs measures for phi-P(phi). In addition, the empirica ...

In this note the S‐matrix naturally associated with a singularly perturbed three‐dimensional system of linear differential equations without turning point on the real axis is considered. It is shown that for a fairly large class of examples, the Complex WKB method gives results far better than what is proven under generic circumstances. In particular, we show how to compute asymptotically all exponentially small off‐diagonal elements of the corresponding S‐matrix.

Interface free energy is the contribution to the free energy of a system due to the presence of an interface separating two coexisting phases at equilibrium. It is also called interfacial free energy or surface tension. The content of the paper is 1) the definition of the interface free energy from first principles of statistical mechanics; 2) a detailed exposition of its basic properties. We consider lattice models with short range interactions, like the Ising model. A nice feature of lattice models is tha

We consider the map T-alpha,T-beta(x) := beta x + alpha mod 1, which admits a unique probability measure of maximal entropy. For x is an element of [0, 1], we show that the orbit of x is mu(alpha,beta)-normal for almost all (alpha, beta) is an element of [ ...

We consider the transition probability for two-level quantum-mechanical systems in the adiabatic limit when the Hamiltonian is analytic. We give a general formula for the leading term of the transition probability when it is governed by N complex eigenvalue crossings. This leading term is equal to a decreasing exponential times an oscillating function of the adiabaticity parameter. The oscillating function comes from an interference phenomenon between the contributions from each complex eigenvalue crossing,

Methods to design riprap-lined channels usually refer to dumped material. Large blocks placed individually by machinery are used when more stability is required. They offer additional resistance against flow erosion since space between blocks is minimized ...

We give a necessary and sufficient condition on beta of the natural extension of a beta-shift, so that any equilibrium measure for a function of bounded total oscillations is a weak Gibbs measure. ...
