This chapter attempts to give a systematic introduction about the choices of both electron- and hole-selective contact materials for efficient perovskite solar cells (PSCs). A huge number of hole-selective electron-blocking materials (HTMs) have been synth ...

The present invention relates to a new family of mono, bis or tris (2,2'-substituted bipyridine) complexes of a metal selected amongst iron, ruthenium, osmium or vanadium, the bipyridine being substituted by at least one electron donor group. According to ...

Given the solution-phase processability and low energy intensity of several techniques, many techniques have been explored to manufacture these cells and modules. Among them, inkjet printing has shown potential for fabricating all the active layers while a ...

Recently, perovskite solar cells (PSC) with high power-conversion efficiency (PCE) and long-term stability have been achieved by employing 2D perovskite layers on 3D perovskite light absorbers. However, in-depth studies on the material and the interface be ...

In pursuit of panchromatic sensitizers for mesoporous TiO2-based solid-state solar cells, a near-IR absorbing zinc phthalocyanine dye (coded TT1) was firstly adsorbed over relatively thin (similar to 1 mu m) TiO2 mesoporous films and then a visible-light a ...

Perovskite solar cell (PSC) technology is the flag bearer for the future of photovoltaics allowing unlimited possibilities for its application. This technology is currently limited by issues related to its scale-up, stability and the composition of the mat ...

The aim of this brief review is to give a short and simple overview of the dye-sensitized solar cell technology from the working principles to the first commercial applications. It emphasizes the role of the sensitizer and the strategies to improve the per ...

Various approaches have been employed to passivate the defects in perovskite films used in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, the passivation mechanism is often unclear at a molecular level, and the reason for enhanced PSC performance often remains el ...

In this work, for the first time, reactive radical-cation species present in hole-transporting materials were shown to react with tert-butylpyridine additive, routinely used in hole transporting layer composition. As a result, new pyridinated products were ...

Pristine fullerene C60 is currently the best-performing electron transport layer (ETL) for perovskite solar cells (PSCs) but suffers from significant aggregation in solution. Consequently, the high-cost and complex thermal evaporation method is typically u ...

Two novel and simple donor-pi-bridge-donor (D-pi-D) hole-transporting materials (HTMs) containing two units of the p-methoxytriphenylamine (TPA) electron donor group covalently bridged by means of the 3,4-dimethoxyselenophene spacer through single and trip ...

Three donor-pi-bridge-acceptor (D-pi-A)-type organic small molecules coded CI-B1, CI-B2, and CI-B3 are designed, synthesized, and used as dopant-free hole transporting materials (HTMs) for perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The strong electron-donating triazat ...

Improving the long-term stability of perovskite solar cells is critical to the deployment of this technology. Despite the great emphasis laid on stability-related investigations, publications lack consistency in experimental procedures and parameters repor ...

A new aliphatic fluorinated amphiphilic additive is added to CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite to tune the morphology and enhance the environmental stability without sacrificing the performance of the devices. Judicious screening of the perovskite precursor solution r ...

Flexible perovskite solar cells (F-PSCs) are highly promising for both stationary and mobile applications because of their advantageous features, including mechanical flexibility, their lightweight and thin nature, and cost-effectiveness. However, a number ...

An optimum amount of lead bromide (1%) can enhance the power conversion efficiency of CH3NH3PbI3-xBrx (where x approximate to 0) devices from 14.7% to 16.9% without altering the bandgap of the perovskite material. ...

Two symmetrical star-shaped hole transporting materials (HTMs), i.e. FA-MeOPh and TPA-MeOPh with a fused triphenylamine or triphenylamine core and diphenylethenyl side arms were synthesized. FA-MeOPh showed a strong molar absorption coefficient and a red-s ...

Tandem solar cells combining silicon and perovskite absorbers have the potential to outperform state-of-the-art high efficiency silicon single junction devices. However, the practical fabrication of monolithic silicon/perovskite tandem solar cells is chall ...
