The LMF is involved in a wide range of basic as well as applied research topics in fluid mechanics, from a computational, experimental and theoretical point of view. Teaching as well as fundamental and applied research are carried out in the areas of experimental, numerical and theoretical fluid dynamics. The activities are focussed on the physical understanding, modeling and manipulation of complex (unsteady, turbulent, 3-D, reacting ) flows of compressible or incompressible (non-)Newtonian fluids by numerical simulation, by experiments and by analytical modeling.
