This paper describes a novel approach for integrated assembly modelling and planning. The main objective is to make assembly information accessible and exploitable by data management systems and computer-aided X tools in order to support product architects ...

Gas path fault diagnosis of a gas turbine is a complex task involving field data analysis and knowledge-based reasoning. In this paper, a data-knowledge hybrid driven method for gas path fault diagnosis is proposed by integrating a physical model-based gas ...

The use of ontologies in the context of product lifecycle management (PLM) is gaining importance and popularity, while at the same time it generates a lot of controversy in discussions within scientific and engineering communities. Yet, what is ontology? W ...

Contemporary manufacturing landscape has changed and has become highly volatile and demanding. Product Life Cycle has significantly decreased because of the consumers' need for personalized products in shorter period of time. This need forced the manufactu ...

Recently, the optimisation of end-of-life (EOL) product recovery processes has been highlighted. At the inspection phase after disassembly, each part can have various recovery options such as reuse, reconditioning, remanufacturing, and disposal. Depending ...

The current competitive industrial context requires more flexible, intelligent and compact product lifecycles, especially in the product development process where several lifecycle issues have to be considered, so as to deliver lifecycle oriented products. ...

Industrial digitalisation for project management (PM) is a promising strategy for organising knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to successfully complete projects. However, system information modelling (SIM), as a key approach that enables the digitalisation of industrial systems, is often applied separately without a PM context. This situation results in fragmentation of project information and hinders collaboration among stakeholders. Limited research has explored on integrating SIM technologies and

Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) provides an important capability for managing the complexities of system development. MBSE empowers the formalism of system architectures for supporting model-based requirement elicitation, specification, design, deve ...

Code generation is an effective way to drive the complex system development in model-based systems engineering. Currently, different code generators are developed for different modeling languages to deal with the development of systems with multi-domain. T ...

The development of an aircraft industrial system faces the challenge of integrative requirements validation with de-correlated modelling languages and distributed proprietary formats. This paper specifies an ontology-centric industrial requirements validat ...

The goal of this paper is to further elaborate a new concept for value creation by decision support services in industrial service ecosystems using digital twins and to apply it to an extended case study. The aim of the original model was to design and int ...

Within the context of market globalisation, the quality of products has become a key factor for success in manufacturing industry. The growing unpredictability of demand necessitates continuous adjustments in production targets. Addressing customer needs a ...

Today, enterprise applications provide large amounts of data and finding the right information on time for a given purpose is often a challenge. In these environments, users do not know what information is important, why it is important and finally, how to ...

The current industrial revolution is said to be driven by the digitization that exploits connected information across all aspects of manufacturing. Standards have been recognized as an important enabler. Ontology-based information standard may provide bene ...

The literature on energy management in manufacturing is rapidly growing. Since the literature is also quite fragmented, we believe that the time has come to delve into current knowledge in the research field to provide directions for policy makers and guid ...

Thanks to recent technology related to product monitoring and data communication, it is now possible for a company to gather various kinds of product usage data during its operation in a ubiquitous way. However, the application of the newly gathered data i ...

The Internet of Things has revolutionized the lifestyle in all aspects. Considering the huge number of connected objects and the plethora of real-time services, edge computing approaches have emerged. Resource allocation is one of the most important challe ...

This paper introduces a novel modelling approach to geometric skeleton computation enabling concurrent product engineering and assembly sequence planning. Current engineering vision has recently moved towards new modelling and management paradigms to maint ...

With the increasing complexity of the highly engineered products, Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is proposed to support the complexity management of the product development. As the basic of complexity management, complexity analysis is used to meas ...

The latest developments in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Product Life-Cycle Management (PLM) are playing a role in the evolution of the aeronautical industry. Despite the reluctance of this domain to accept the introduction of technology leaps ...
