A new Ru(II) complex, Bu4N [ruthenium (4-carboxylic acid-4'-carboxylate-2,2'-bipyridine)(4,4'-di(2-(3,6-dimethoxyphenyl)ethenyl)-2,2'-bipyridine)(NCS)2] (N945H), was synthesized and characterized by anal., spectroscopic, and electrochem. techniques. The ab ...

The influence of some coadsorbents and different pH values on the efficiency of DSS cells assembled with phycocyanin was evaluated using quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) and electrochemical techniques as impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry ...

Running relay: Incorporating an energy-relay dye (ERD) into the hole transporter of a dye-sensitized solar cell increased power-conversion efficiency by 29 % by extending light harvesting into the blue region. In the operating mechanism (see picture), abso ...

Cosensitization of broadly absorbing ruthenium metal complex dyes with highly absorptive near-infrared (NIR) organic dyes is a clear pathway to increase near-infrared light harvesting in liquid- based dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). In cosensitized DSCs ...

The dye-sensitized mesoscopic solar cell has been intensively investigated as a promising photovoltaic cell. Its ecological and economical fabrication processes make it attractive and credible alternative to conventional photovoltaic systems. In contrast t ...

Two novel trialkylsilyl-containing organic sensitizers (JK-53 and JK-54) have been designed and synthesized. Nanocrystalline TiO2-silica-based dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) were fabricated using these dyes. Under standard global AM 1.5 solar condition ...

Hybrid perovskites are emerging as top contenders in the next generation of photovoltaics, yet their stability under operational conditions remains a significant challenge. Specifically, degradation occurs at the interface with charge transport layers in p ...

We report on the site-selective synthesis of PCBM-like [70]fullerene site-isomers, where the elusive -site-isomers are, for the first time, the major product in a (cyclo)addition chemical reaction involving [70]fullerene. The reaction involves an straightf ...

The present invention relates to electrolytes comprising tetracyanoborate and an organic cation as components of electrolytes in electrochemical and/or optoelectronic devices, in particular solar cells. This ionic liquid has low viscosity and can be used a ...

The conventional strategy of overcharge protection for lithium ion batteries uses redox molecules having oxidation potential higher than the cathodic materials in the electrolyte. Here we propose a novel approach by using redox molecules having reduction p ...

A structureproperty relationship in all-organic dye solar cells is revealed by first-principles molecular dynamics and real-time time-dependent density functional theory simulations, accompanied with experimental confirmation. An important structural featu ...

A method of modifying the structure of a perovskite film prepared on a substrate, wherein an organic or inorganic salt crown ether complex is applied on a free surface of the so-prepared perovskite film. A perovskite solar cell, wherein a perovskite layer ...

This brief review describes applications of cyclometallated iridium complexes for energy saving organic light-emitting devices (OLED's) and energy generating molecular photovoltaic cells. The first part consists of a short overview of the methods to modula ...

Controlling the morphology and surface passivation in perovskite solar cells is paramount in obtaining optimal opto-electronic properties. This study incorporates N-doped graphene nanosheets in the perovskite layer, which simultaneously induces an improved ...

Bis-cyclometalated cationic Ir(III) diimine complexes Ir((CN)-N-Lambda)2((NN)-N-Lambda) with 1-phenylpyrazoles ((CN)-N-Lambda) and 1-(4'-tert-butyl-2'-pyridyl) pyrazole ((NN)-N-Lambda) are white solids that have absorption onset below 425 nm and ele ...

A review with 156 refs. on interfacial electron transfer reactions in colloidal semiconductor solns. and thin films and their application for solar light energy conversion and photocatalytic water purifn. Some of the topics discussed include; optical and electronic properties of colloidal semiconductor particles, quantum size effects in the photoluminescence of colloidal semiconductors, light-induced charge sepn., dynamics of interfacial charge transfer processes, properties and prepn. of nanocryst. semicon

Herein, we present a straightforward bottom-up synthesis of a high electron mobility and highly light scattering macroporous photoanode for dye-sensitized solar cells. The dense three-dimensional Al/ZnO, SnO2, or TiO2 host integrates a conformal passivatio ...

Multi-electron heterogeneous catalysis is a pivotal element in the ( photo) electrochemical generation of solar fuels. However, mechanistic studies of these systems are difficult to elucidate by means of electrochemical methods alone. Here we report a spec ...

A compact energy‐storage system based on redox targeting is proposed, by which insulating LiFePO4 particles can be reversibly charged and discharged by redox shuttle molecules (S; see scheme) even in the absence of conducting additives. The energy density ...

Some of the fundamental problems concerning nanocryst. film electrodes such as photocurrent and photovoltage generation, the effect of an external bias, and the importance of surface states were discussed. The problems were described from a mol. perspective and for example quantum chem. calcns. on small TiO2 clusters can be used to describe local surface states. Nanocryst. semiconductor electrodes exhibit properties which differ strongly from those of bulk solids.
