Observation of the Brownian motion of a small probe interacting with its environment provides one of the main strategies for characterizing soft matter. Essentially, two counteracting forces govern the motion of the Brownian particle. First, the particle i ...

We report on the synthesis, the layered triclinic P (1) over bar crystal structure, band structure and Fermi surface analysis and preliminary transport and ESR data of beta-(EDT-TTF-I-2)(2)((1+x)center dot+)HO2C-CH=CH-CO2--O2C-CH=CH-CO2-, a m ...

Co1/3NbS2 is the magnetic intercalate of 2H-NbS2 where electronic itinerant and magnetic properties strongly influence each other throughout the phase diagram. Here we report the angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES) study in Co1/3NbS2. In agre ...

Due to their exceptional photovoltaic properties, metal halide perovskites (MHPs) are extensively studied for their potential applications in solar cells. In recent years, the power conversion efficiencies of MHPs-based solar cells rapidly increased from t ...

Huntington's disease (HD), caused by a mutation of the corresponding gene encoding the protein huntingtin (htt), is characterized by progressive deterioration of cognitive and motor functions, paralleled by extensive loss of striatal neurons. At the cellul ...

Crystalline defects can modify quantum interactions in solids, causing unintuitive, even favourable, properties such as quantum Hall effect or superconducting vortex pinning. Here we present another example of this notion-an unexpected unidirectional Kondo ...

Optical second-harmonic generation (SHG) can only occur in noncentrosymmetric crystals in the leading electric-dipole approximation. Transition metal dichalcogenides with the 1T octahedral coordination is centrosymmetric, hence precluding SHG. Here we repo ...

Under stress conditions, elevated levels of cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) may impair crucial cellular structures. To counteract the resulting oxidative damage, living cells are equipped with several defense mechanisms, including photoprotective fu ...

Transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are layered compounds that support many electronic phases, including various charge density waves, superconducting, and Mott insulating states. Their intercalation with magnetic ions introduces magnetic sublayers, wh ...

The discovery of the anomalous Hall effect (AHE) in bulk metallic antiferromagnets (AFMs) motivates the search of the same phenomenon in two-dimensional (2D) systems, where a quantized anomalous Hall conductance can, in principle, be observed. Here we pres ...

Optoelectronic devices and solar cells based on organometallic hybrid perovskites have to operate over a broad temperature range, which may contain their structural phase transitions. For instance, the temperature of 330 K, associated with the tetragonal-c ...

We report on the acid ethylenedithiotetrathiafulvaleneamidoglycine (EDT-TTF-CO-NH-CH2-CO2H; 1; EDT-TTF=ethylenedithiotetrathiafulvalene) and the 1:1 adduct [(EDT-TTF)(center dot+) -CO-NH-CH2-(CO2H)(-)][(EDT-TTF)-CO-NH-CH2-(CO2H)]center dot CH3OH (2), a new ...

In this study visible light active iodine doped titanium dioxide samples prepared by sol-gel method were investigated. Photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XF ...

Interest in fast and easy detection of high-energy radiation (x-, gamma-rays and neutrons) is closely related to numerous practical applications ranging from biomedicine and industry to homeland security issues. In this regard, crystals of hybrid halide pe ...

We studied the effect of the exposure of human A549 and SH-SY5Y cell lines to aqueous solutions of organic/inorganic halide perovskites CH3NH3PbI3 (MAPbI3) and CH3NH3SnI3 (MASnI3) at the molecular level by using Fourier transform infrared microspectroscopy ...

We have prepared multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)/In2O3 composites using a simple impregnation method. The precursor compound indium(III) chloride (InCl3) was used to cover the surface of MWCNTs and distilled water was used as solvent. The applied mass ...

Hybrid organic-inorganic halide perovskites represent a promising next-generation photovoltaic material with drawbacks for structure stability and composition concerns. Demonstrations of ion migration and molecular dynamics suggest room for structural cont ...

Vanadium oxide nanotubes with a diameter of 20-100 nm and an aspect ratio of 50-100 were synthesized by hydrothermal method. Young's modulus of 20-80 GPa was obtained by bending measurements of individual nanotubes using an atomic force microscope. Electri ...

Because of their excellent photoelectric properties, organic-inorganic metal halide perovskites (MHPs), such as methylammonium lead triiodide, CH3NH3PbI3 (MAPbI(3)), and methylammonium lead tribromide, CH3NH3PbBr3 (MAPbBr(3)), are of great interest for the ...

The radical cation salt, ET2MnCuN(CN)(2), [ET=bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene] with an unusual three-dimensional anionic polymeric network is studied by x-ray diffraction, static susceptibility measurements, and electron spin resonance (ESR) at ...
