Pump-probe measurements in a microcavity containing a quantum well show that a population of circularly polarized (sigma(+)) excitons can completely inhibit the transition to sigma(-) one-exciton states by transferring the oscillator strength to the biexcitonic resonance. With increasing pump intensity the linear exciton-polariton doublet evolves into a triplet polariton structure and finally into a shifted biexciton-polariton doublet. A theoretical model of interacting excitons demonstrates that the crosso

We report the first observation of stochastic resonance in confined exciton polaritons. We evidence this phenomena by tracking the polaritons behavior through two stochastic resonance quantifiers namely the spectral magnification factor and the signal-to-n ...

We report on time-resolved measurements of the first order spatial coherence in an exciton-polariton Bose-Einstein condensate. Long-range spatial coherence is found to set in right at the onset of stimulated scattering, on a picosecond time scale. The cohe ...

We investigate the nonlinear optical dynamics of excitons and trions in CdTe modulation-doped quantum wells by time and spectrally resolved pump-probe experiments. We find that the nonlinearities induced by excitons are different from those due to the presence of the trions. From a comparison between the exciton and trion behaviours, we show that, at low temperature, trions are formed from excitons in about 10 picoseconds and, as the temperature is increased, a thermal equilibrium is reached between exciton

We report on the effect of decoherence on polariton bistability. The polariton hysteresis loop is shown to collapse in a similar way when increasing the temperature or under nonresonant excitation power. The hysteresis upward threshold is pulled to lower e ...

The dynamics of excitons and trions in CdTe modulation-doped quantum wells are studied as a function of temperature by three-pulse four-wave mixing experiments. It is shown that trions are localized by interface roughness scattering and/or by the remote ionized donor potential at low temperature in the low-density regime. The diffusivity of excitons and trions increases with temperature but their mobilities are limited by acoustical phonon scattering, The coherence study reveals that the system is inhomogen

A Feshbach resonance occurs when the energy of two interacting free particles comes into resonance with a molecular bound state. When approaching this resonance, marked changes in the interaction strength between the particles can arise. Feshbach resonance ...

Polariton condensates have proved to be model systems to investigate topological defects, as they allow for direct and nondestructive imaging of the condensate complex order parameter. The fundamental topological excitations of such systems are quantized v ...

In this review, we will try to summarize the results that we have obtained on the measurement of polariton interactions. We will describe here the samples, the experimental systems and some of the important results. We will also give a few highlights on th ...

In this Comment I challenge the main conclusions of Ref. [1]. The main reason for this Comment is the large number of questions on the details of the experiment that led me to request the raw data. I have obtained two sets of raw data. After a long discuss ...

We performed studies on microcavity polaritons trapped along the three dimensions of space, under resonant excitation on a confined lower polariton state. We observed various nonlinear behaviors as a function of the pump power, without any apparent loss of ...

When the carrier density is increased in a semiconductor, according to the predictions of Sir Nevil Mott, a transition should occur from an insulating state consisting of a gas of excitons to a conductive electron-hole plasma. This crossover, usually refer ...
