This lecture covers the process of connecting cells in NEURON using chemical synapses represented as 'point processes'. The ExpSyn process, with single exponential decay of conductance, is used to simulate synaptic events between presynaptic and postsynaptic cells. By injecting current clamps and creating NetStim and NetCon objects, the instructor demonstrates how to stimulate synapses and simulate the firing of two connected cells.
