This lecture explores the recent progress in generating high-average power Terahertz (THz) for Time Domain Spectroscopy (TDS). It reviews the state-of-the-art of high-power ultrafast laser sources and the challenges in scaling THz average power. The presentation discusses the potential applications of novel lab-based sources in various research areas, driven by state-of-the-art, high-average power ultrafast Yb-gain based lasers. The lecture also covers the techniques for THz generation, such as optical rectification in nonlinear crystals, and the advancements in achieving power levels in the THz domain. The speaker, Clara Saraceno, is a full professor at Ruhr University Bochum, with research interests in high-power ultrafast laser systems and THz technology.
