This lecture introduces the DEM program, a collaboration between EPFL and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, focusing on enhancing scientific research and higher education in Africa. It covers the pillars for sustainable impact, including junior faculty development, 100 doctorates for Africa, and digital education. The general objectives include adopting a learner-centered approach, developing learners' skills, and integrating digital content and technologies. The teaching team consists of experts from EPFL and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University. The training program comprises 10 modules, practical training, working on personal courses, and support from facilitators. Doctorate

Doctor of Law

A Doctor of Law is a degree in law . The application of the term varies from country to country and includes degrees such as the Doctor of Juridical Science (J.S.D. or S.J.D), Juris Doctor (J.D.), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), and Legum Doctor (LL.D.). In Argentina the Doctor of Laws or Doctor of Juridical Sciences is the highest academic qualification in the field of Jurisprudence. To obtain the doctoral degree the applicant must have previously achieved, at least the undergraduate degree of Attorney.

Doctor of Letters (D.Litt., Litt.D., Latin: Litterarum Doctor or Doctor Litterarum) also termed "Doctor of Literature" in some countries is a terminal degree in the arts, humanities and social sciences that, depending on the country, is a higher doctorate after the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree or equivalent to a higher doctorate, such as the Doctor of Science (Sc.D. or D.Sc.) or Doctor of Laws (LL.D).
