Photonic integrated circuits, terahertz optoelectronics, terahertz imaging systems
Xurong Li received B.S. degree from Peking University in 2016. He obtained M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in Prof. Mona Jarrahi's group in 2018 and 2022, respectively, working on terahertz optoelectronics and systems. He continued as a postdoc scholar in the same group from January 2023 to May 2024. Xurong joined the Laboratory of Photonics and Quantum Measurements (LPQM) in
Olivier SchneiderAfter his thesis defense in particle physics in 1989 at University of Lausanne, Olivier Schneider joins LBL, the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory (California), to work on the CDF experiment at the Tevatron in Fermilab (Illinois), first as a research fellow supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation, and later as a post-doc at LBL. He participates in the construction and commissioning of the first silicon vertex detector to operate successfully at a hadron collider; this detector enabled the discovery of the sixth quark, named "top". Since 1994, he comes back to Europe and participates in the ALEPH experiment at CERN's Large Electron-Positron Collider, as CERN fellow and then as CERN scientific staff. He specializes in heavy flavour physics. In 1998, he becomes associate professor at University of Lausanne, then extraordinary professor at the Swiss Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) in 2003, and finally full professor at EPFL in 2010. Having worked since 1997 on the preparation of the LHCb experiment at CERN's Large Hadron Collider, which started operation in 2009, he is now analyzing the first data. He also contributes since 2001 to the exploitation of the data recorded at the Belle experiment (KEK laboratory, Tsukuba, Japan). These two experiments study mainly the decays of hadrons containing a b quark, as well CP violation, i.e. the non-invariance under the symmetry between matter and antimatter.

Mission
I am teaching analysis and numerical analysis for engineers and mathematicians at bachelor and master levels. My research pertains to the numerical simulation of complex physical systems with partial differential equations. Here is some bibliometry: Google Scholar, Research Gate, Orcid, here is my most recent CV. Ongoing research projects: - Numerical simulation of aluminium electrolysis, collaboration with RioTinto LRF lab, Ycoorsystems SA and Jacques
Cécile HébertCécile Hébert was born in France in 1970. She obtained her Ingeneer degree (physics) and her PhD degree (design of a new energy filter for transmission electron microscopy, under the direction of Prof. B. Jouffrey) at the Ecole Centrale in Paris.
As a post doc with Prof. P. Schattschneider, she was working on the calculation of the fine structure of ionisation edges in EELS. As a research assistant at the Vienna University of Technology, she was one of the main participant to the CHIRALTEM project dealing with the measurement of magnetic circular dichroism in the electron microscope.
Orane PouchonAfter studying Mathematics at EPFL and ETHZ, I went on to do a PhD in applied mathematics in Professor Assyr Abdulle's chair at EPFL. Attracted by teaching, I continued with a teaching diploma for secondary II.Since 2018, I've been back at EPFL, first as a lecturer and communications officer, and since 2021 as the deputy to the mathematics section.Parcours 2021 - .... : Deputy of the Section of Mathematics2018 - 2021 : Head of communication and lecturer for the Section and Institute of mathematics, EPFL2017

I got my Ph.D. in computer science at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. I worked on model checking and developed efficient data structures to generate and explore large state spaces. SI then studied logics and type systems while trying to find new ways to teach computer science.I have always loved coding, but quickly realized I'm not so good at writing correct programs. So I thought I'd better write clever compilers to do it for me. Eve
Serge VaudenaySerge Vaudenay entered at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in 1989 with a major in mathematics. He earned his agrégation (secondary teaching degree) in mathematics in 1992, then a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Paris 7 - Denis Diderot in 1995. He subsequently became a senior research fellow at the CNRS, prior to being granted his habilitation à diriger des recherches (a postdoctoral degree authorizing the recipient to supervise doctoral students). In 1999, he was appointed as a Professor at the EPFL, where he created the Security and Cryptography Laboratory.
