I focus on machine learning for audio-visual sensing to enable systems to serve agreed purposes and improve their abilities through interactions with the environment, with other systems and with people. The goal of my research is to create the next-generation machine perception models for the effective use of sensory data, and the safe operation of autonomous systems that gain information about their environment and make decisions in partnership with humans or independently. These models are trans

Marcel DrabbelsDr. Marcel Drabbels studied experimental physics at the University of Nijmegen (the Netherlands) and in 1993 obtained his Ph.D. at that same university. He then moved to the University of California at Santa Barbara where he studied the dynamics of highly vibrationally excited molecules and developed a new detection technique to investigate the photodissociation of molecules. When he returned to the Netherlands in 1996 he joined the FOM Institute for Atomic and Molecular Physics in Amsterdam where he worked on the development of new types of infrared imaging and streak cameras. In 1997 Dr. Drabbels was awarded a fellowship of the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences and he moved to the Free University of Amsterdam where he studied the collision dynamics of molecules and initiated photodissociation experiments using ultrafast lasers. In October 1998 he was appointed as senior scientist at the EPFL where he studies the spectroscopy and dynamics of nanoscale systems. In March 2021 he was promoted to titular professor.
Amine BenouhibaAmine Benouhiba graduated from the Preparatory School of Science and Technology, Algeria, in 2012. He received his engineering degree in material engineering from Ecole Nationale Polytechnique (ENP), Algeria, in 2015. He also received his master’s degree in innovative materials from Ecole centrale de Lyon (ECL) in 2016. He completed his Ph.D. degree in 2020 at the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté University. Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). His research interests include the design and development of soft robotics, origami-inspired structures and microrobotics.
Simon HolzerHi, I am Simon Holzer. I received my B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in mechanical engineering with a focus on microtechnology from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ) in 2020 and 2022, respectively. I am currently working towards Ph.D. in the Integrated Actuators Laboratory (LAI) at EPFL in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. My research interests lie in the field of soft robotics, artificial muscles, and biomechanics.
Yves PerriardYves Perriard was born in Lausanne in 1965. He received the M. Sc. in Microengineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology - Lausanne (EPFL) in 1989 and the Ph D. degree in 1992. Co-founder of Micro-Beam SA, he was CEO of this company involved in high precision electric drive. Senior lecturer from 1998 and professor since 2003, he is currently director of Laboratory of Integrated Actuators. His research interests are in the field of new actuator design and associated electronic devices. In 2009, he is appointed Vice-Director of the Microengineering Institute in Neuchâtel until 2011. In 2013 the Federal Council has named him the the CTI commission in Bern. In 2014 he is appointed guest professor at Zhejiang University in China.
